Easter ad of the day. This is Your Brain on Engineering (GoldieBlox Easter PSA)
via adverblog.com
http://bit.ly/1qfs12I -- Check out our extended bibliography, learn more stats, and see the toys behind the scenes.
This Easter, we wanted to highlight some of the reasons more choices for girls are so important. Why stay on a conveyor belt when you can build your own Ferris wheel, after all?
We're GoldieBlox, a toy company out to show the world that girls deserve more choices than dolls and princesses. We believe that femininity is strong and girls will build the future — literally.
Our founder, Debbie Sterling, is a Stanford engineer who decided that girls need more choices than the pink aisle has to offer. She developed GoldieBlox, an interactive book series + construction set starring Goldie, the kid inventor who loves to build.

'Circulus' is a Latin word defined in English as 'a social gathering or circle company surrounding an area of interest' We are Circulus and our interest is entertainment. We want to create and deliver a brand new take on circus arts; drawing on the cutting edge of modern technology, endeavouring to give our audience a unique, visceral, live performance experience.
We are interested in performing in found and forgotten spaces in London, where we are based and around the world. Transforming a space, leaving it exactly as we found it. Coming and going, a finite entity. Our interest does not lie in personal gain, we will always be socially beneficial. Providing the magic of the touring show to areas that have been neglected, areas that may be bereft of the arts.
Many of the artists featured in this film are students at or graduates from the National Centre for Circus Arts In London (https://www.nationalcircus.org.uk) Go check out the website to find out more about amazing British circus talent.
Music: 4 Ton Mantis by Amon Tobin
In this video we bring together some of the UK's very best acrobatic and circus performing talent for a fun and explosive shoot in an unused Victorian Sail factory in the heart of London's east end. With tricking, hand-to-hand, free running, dancing, juggling, tumbling, aerial hoop, cyr wheel, banquine, breakdancing, hand balancing, trampoline and more we transformed this desolate yet decadent space into a thriving hub of movement and creativity.
We come from a mix of backgrounds including gymnastics, parkour and free running, break dancing, juggling and circus, this helps create a unique blend of traditional and modern, hand picking the most exciting parts of everything we like.

About the shoot:
We knew that we wanted to bring as many of our friends from the circus entertainment world together as possible, for a fun and ambitious shoot that would combine many of the different art forms that we enjoy. We knew of a space in east london that would be perfect so we started to plan who and what we would use. At the time of the films conception the company had not yet been entirely formed and it was a great test of our ability to make things happen without funding, through the hard work and determination of ourselves and some great friends. We had an incredible amount of help from Steve Hough from http://www.zealevents.com and we can't thank him enough! He provided us with 2 tons of staging, 2 of the 3 vans, electrical equipment and more. The 15 meter air track that can be seen being put to full use was lent to us by Peter Trankle of Bracknell gymnastics club, many thanks to him for his support. The amount of interest and enthusiasm the project was met with from the circus artists that we collaborated with has been humbling. Having a group of nearly 50 of the worlds finest performers in a cold factory in February and having so much fun made it one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. Even if it did involve shovelling pigeon shit and bailing out ditchwater from a victorian drainage system - Remy

Music stuff of the day. TCS - Robot Heart: Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead (cover by Kawehi)
Via adfreak, via kickstarter.com
"Esquire had asked me to do a live song for them over the weekend, and I readily agreed. My life has changed since they ran that piece on HSB and the least I could do to show my appreciation was make a little music for them:).
The cover series continues...with one for Jim N! You know, I feel so grateful to have so many people out there who believe in me so much that they're willing to support my Kickstarter projects - but on top of THAT, they enjoy INCREDIBLE music. I feel so spoiled:)!!
I've covered Radiohead before - I think it goes without saying that I think they're the shiznit. They do the kind of music they want - regardless of what everyone else thinks - and still, they kill it every time. Every time I hear one of their records, I'm filled with so much joy to be listening to such an amazing work of art - and so incredibly bummed that I'm not there yet as an artist. My only hope is that one day, with tons of work, I'll get there...

via mashable.com
Thousands of people die every year in crashes related to distracted driving.
That's why cops are out looking for people who text while driving, and that's why they write tickets -- to save lives.
Remember, U Drive. U Text. U Pay.
