DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC (Samsung Mobile) has released a 60-second sneak-peek ad, entitled El Plato Supreme, on Samsung Mobile’s U.S. social communities as a lead up to the 2-minute ad for the big game on February 3.
“This ad represents our collaborative, real-time approach to creating ads with Samsung. Their unique approach to marketing has given them a competitive edge and has helped propel the brand to be one of the top 10 in the world.”
“The Big Pitch,” the full 2-minute ad, and an extended cut version with never-been-seen footage will be released later this week. Consumers will have the opportunity to weigh in on their favorite moments and win prizes using the hashtag #TheNextBigThing.
"The anticipation of Super Bowl ads creates a unique consumer experience,” said Todd Pendleton, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Mobile. "'The Next Big Thing' campaign has allowed us the flexibility to tap into significant cultural moments and relevant conversations while showcasing our innovation."
“The Big Pitch” ad features the Galaxy family of products including the Galaxy Note™ II, Galaxy S® III and Galaxy Note™ 10.1.
In 2012, Samsung Mobile aired its first Super Bowl ad launching a new category of smartphones with the Galaxy Note™. The ad, which was developed by 72 and Sunny, won the Twitter Ad Scrimmage that included 30 brands and 42 spots. The Galaxy Note™ went on to sell 10 million devices globally in 9 months followed by the Galaxy Note™ II which sold 5 million devices globally in 2 months.
"The Next Big Thing" campaign has always been about keeping a finger on the pulse of what is current and relevant to consumers,” said John Boiler, CEO of 72 and Sunny. “This ad represents our collaborative, real-time approach to creating ads with Samsung. Their unique approach to marketing has given them a competitive edge and has helped propel the brand to be one of the top 10 in the world.”

Using both praxinoscopes and the technique of matching up the frame rate of the spinning record to that of the camera, no computer super-imposing was used; what you see is what rolled off the camera. The transitions between each section of animation was created by simply cutting or wiping between the bits of footage.

All the animations were created, drawn and coloured by the director David Wilson.

Animated short of the week. Paperman by Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, "Paperman." Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. Created by a small, innovative team working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, "Paperman" pushes the animation medium in an exciting new direction.

Ad of the day. Forgiveness for Schneider Beer.

The taste and quality of a Schneider Beer could be summarized in a big secret: maturation time.

Ogilvy & Mather Argentina and Schneider visualized that this maturation is the same that men need: conquering a blonde and a brunette, cheating on your girlfriend, sneaking out, etc.

"Somehow, this is the first commercial of the category dedicated to women, and we like that very much. "Forgiveness" is a sincere apology from male to women for the immaturity and maleness", declared the ECDs of the agency.
