Scottish Ballet's Sonoya Mizuno Smolders in a High-Fashion Short
Tokyo-born dancer Sonoya Mizuno and an albino python star in today’s hypnotic short by photographer and director Can Evgin. Having honed her skills at the Royal Ballet School, and on shoots for Lacoste and Harper’s Bazaar, Scottish Ballet-member Mizuno now prepares herself for a starring role in Ex-Machina, the forthcoming sci-fi thriller, from 28 Days Later screenwriter Alex Garland. The subdued yet menacing accompanying soundtrack to today’s premiere, composed by Pandora's Jukebox (aka Yasmina Dexter), seemed to inspire the mood on set, and Mizuno found that translating her talents came instinctively. “In my mind I was quite a conservative woman with a strong internal fantasy, and the clothes really triggered it,” she says of her wardrobe of Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Saint Laurent that was picked by Garage magazine's Chloe Kerman. “I hardly showed flesh, the collars were high and the dresses were long which helped with the sense of control and class—which makes her python fantasy all the more twisted.”

Cool video of the day. Mirror City Timelapse.

Mirror City Timelapse from Michael Shainblum on Vimeo.

"When I first started Mirror City, I wanted to create a video that was completely out of the norm. I wanted to showcase something unique and artistic, which takes Timelapse photography into a more abstract direction. Mirror City is a visual story through some of the great American cities: Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. These clips were all processed from their original form, into the kaleidoscopic visuals that you see in this video. Many people visit these large cities every day, and all of these places have been shot and filmed, but I wanted to emulate these urban landscapes in a way that nobody has even seen before. I wanted to put man-made geometric shapes, mixed with elements of color and movement to create less of a structured video, and more of a plethora of visual stimulation.
The video starts off with simple mirrors and recognizable architecture, as the video progresses, so does the visual stimulation, showing the real abstraction of the piece.
I have worked on this piece for an extremely long amount of time. I have spent time mirroring images and videos for the past five years, and I have been working on this specific piece for about four months. I felt it was time to combine Timelapse photography and the simplicity of a kaleidoscope, and create Mirror City.

Fashion ad of the day. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas "Misfit Right In".

via adweek.com

This is The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas' 30-second TV ad, intended to pique the curiosity of our guests and stimulate conversation. It speaks to the power that comes from individuals being distinct and exactly who they are versus what people may think they should be. It's about making unique choices -- whether or not they are considered expected or normal. The campaign originally premiered during the British Open (July 2013).

The energetic track used in the commercial is a mashup called "Original Don," created by Major Lazer. It is reflective of The Cosmopolitan brand to have music play a leading role, as it does in this commercial.
